Additional Requirements
Even if one is in any of the categories mentioned above, they still need to have worked in Canada, on a full-time basis, for at least a year to be eligible for the program. For them to receive the work permit, there must be an existing relationship between the foreign enterprise, or the employer, and them.
How Long Will The Work Permit Last?
Work permits acquired through the Intra-Company Transfer program in Canada are valid for one year, according to the Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). On the upside, one can renew theirs. To do so, they should provide proof of the following:
That foreign companies and the Canadian still share a qualifying professional relationship
That the new office is not inappropriately staffed and it has continuously been involved in the production of certain goods and services for the past twelve months.
Intra-company transferees can become permanent residents of Canada. If they do, they can stay and work in any part of the country. To do so, they may have to go through the Express Entry System.
The Express Entry System
This is one of Canada’s immigration selection system, which started operating in 2015, that helps immigrant workers to acquire permanent residence. Through it, the inter-company transferees can get the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points to allow them to get invited to apply for permanent residence. Alternatively, they can also become permanent residents by going through one of the Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) in the country.
The Intra-Company Transfer Program allows Canada to acquire more talented and skilled workers. Eventually, the latter may become permanent residents of the state through the Canadian Express Entry System. They can also do it via a Provincial Nominee Program.
