Canada looks forward to welcoming 200,000 economic immigrants through its different immigration streams. An approximate of 90,000 will use any of the three federal Express Entry programs while around 65,000 through PNP. In this blog post, we’ll learn more about PNP and Express Entry.
Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) Application Fee
The PNP became operational in 1998 to help provinces and territories recruit immigrants who meet their labor demands. Under Canada’s constitution, immigration is led by both government levels, which control such programs as PNP. British Canada raised its application fee for the Skills Immigration stream, but it remains one of Canada’s most affordable programs.
According to B.C, the increased money will help serve its applicants better. In recent months, the number of applicants for the Provincial Nominee Program gets high by the day. Initially, the fee was $700, but as of now, the fee is $1,150. Currently, there are thousands of provincial nominees looking forward to becoming permanent residents. Nominated skilled workers need to pay a maximum application fee of $2,000. Excluded from the application fee are programs led by Alberta, Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Nova Scotia.
Entrepreneur applicants will pay a maximum application fee of $3,500. The provincial application fee is, therefore, a decision involving all territories and provinces in the country. The fee gets added to the federal immigration fee. But this fee doesn’t apply to all immigrants; it only applies to successful provincial nominees who apply for permanent residence. Below is a breakdown of the fee in different provinces:
- Zero dollars for Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP)
- 350 dollar for Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program
- 1,150 dollars for BC PNP (Provincial Nominee Program)
- 1,500 to 2,000 dollars for OINP—Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program
- 812 dollars for Quebec
- 500 dollars for Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP)
- 300 dollars for Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP)
- 250 dollars for NLPNP
- 250 dollars for New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program (NBPNP)
- Zero dollars for NSNP—Nova Scotia Nominee Program
- Zero dollars for Northwest Territories Nominee Program (NTNP)
- ($0- YNP)—Zero dollars for Yukon Nominee Program
Over the years, PNP has grown at a high rate. Most immigrants use it to apply for permanent residence in Canada, making it the second most used program. Immigrants have a hard time choosing between PNP and Express Entry. Below are differences between the two programs.
