Ontario has opened new invitations to those willing to apply for permanent residents. The application is open to Express Entry candidates, among them the 439 who applied through its Skilled Trades Stream.
No other Skilled Trades Stream’s invitations issued in a single draw so far this year have surpassed those issued on October 19. This year, 1,445 Notifications of Interest (NOIs) have been issued through the stream.
Direct application to the OINP is not necessary for those in the Express Entry pool. The candidates should use their IRCC online accounts to secure NOI from Ontario. Once the NOI letter is issued, the candidates must wait for 45 calendar days to submit their application online to the agency.
Those who have worked in Ontario for at least one year full-time or the equivalent in part-time are eligible to apply for permanent residence. The experience is based on any job listed in the National Occupational Classification’s (NOC) Minor Group 633 or Major Group 72, 73, or 82. The other requirements include being a current residence in Ontario and meeting the minimum amount of settlement funds among others.
The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) uses the Skilled Trades Stream to search the federal Express Entry pool for those who fulfill the aforementioned requirements.
For candidates to qualify for consideration, they must also meet the Canadian Experience Class eligibility requirements. The Express Entry system manages the Canadian Experience Class and another two federal economic immigration categories in the country.
