MANITOBA PROVINCIAL NOMINEE PROGRAM DRAW BREAKS 600 BARRIER AGAIN

A new Expression of Interest draw was conducted by Manitoba immigration officials under the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program.

About 626 candidates were invited to apply across four Manitoba streams on May 11 2018, through MPNP draw.

As a part of the Skilled Workers Overseas stream, out of the total invites, 151 candidates went for the province’s new Express Entry Pathways having the lowest-ranked candidates scoring 562 points.

Another 99 candidates were invited directly by the MPNP under a Strategic Recruitment Initiative which is also a part of the SWO where the lowest score was recorded as 706 points.  SRI is implemented when province nominates qualified persons to immigrate to Canada’s province depending on specific labour market need.

About 109 invitations went to candidates who scored at least 602 points under SWO Human Capital Pathways and met certain criteria.  These people could qualify for the MPNP for SKO if they were

  • Supported by family members or friends;
  • Had previous education or work experience in the province
  • Attained 6 months of experience in the recent past for an in-demand occupation in Manitoba;

The remnants 267 invitations went to candidates under the Skilled Workers in Manitoba stream with the lowest score of 500 points.

Shifting from the 2107 trend in MPNP activity, this was the 44 draw for Manitoba immigration in the early 2018.  Manitoba draws were influenced by SWM stream till the end of 2017.  The first draws of the year 2018 saw large number of invites given to individuals based overseas under the SWO stream.  The recent Manitoba draw was conducted on April 13, 2018 witnessed 400 candidates invited to apply across two Manitoba streams.
