New data from the Canadian government shows that invites issued to express entry candidates with a provincial nomination for permanent residence are already out for the year. Approximately 7,500 express entry candidates received provincial nomination out of the total 62,500 candidates that were invited to apply for Canadian permanent residency just between the months of January and September.
Canada has a program set to ensure the benefits that accrue as a result of immigration are spread uniformly throughout all its provinces and territories that have interest and participate in the immigration programs. Through its Provincial Nominee Program, Canada allows these participants to nominate a specified number of economic immigration applicants yearly for permanent residency.
Canada has three core federal economic programs for immigration, managed by the Federal Express Entry system, these are, the FSWC (Federal Skilled Worker Class), (CEC) Canadian Experienced Class, and the (FTC) Federal Skilled Trades Class. Each province or territory with the immigration nominee program is given at least a single immigration stream which is linked to the federation’s express entry system. This system manages all candidates for the three federal programs.
There are an additional 600 points to express entry rankings awarded to express entry candidates who have received a provincial nomination. This additional score efficiently guarantees an invitation to apply (ITA) in a subsequent express entry invites round organized by IRRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada).
Invitations to Apply Provided by the Economic Immigration Program
The scores for Express Entry pool between the years 2017 and 2018 compared shows a positive rise. This is because of the increasing number of express entry pool candidates with provincial nominations and probably the 600 bonus points awarded to those who qualify. The numbers have not gone below 440.
The growth of the Provincial Nominee Program
The importance of the Provincial Nominee Program to the immigration strategy of the federal government has been realized through the rise in Invitations to Apply distributed among provincial nominees. These have pushed Canada to see a huge growth of 61,000 immigrant admissions in the next year. Here is a brief of the exponential increase of admissions over the years.
