The provincial nominee programs have been going on in different provinces around Canada for the past few weeks. There have been more than 2000 invites issues to different candidates across Canada.

These candidates can now apply for permanent residence in Canada. Each and every one of these invitation was issued through an enhanced nomination stream. This way, provinces have a procedure for determining who goes through to Federal Express Entry system.

The Federal Express Entry system usually manages candidates from the Canada Experience Class, the Federal Skilled Trades Class, as well as the Federal Skilled Worker Class. These three are the main economic immigration categories in Canada.

All candidates who receive an invitation for the provincial nomination get awarded an additional 600 points. These Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points help move them to the front of the line of immigrants applying for permanent residence.

Alberta

191 immigrants from Alberta received invitations to apply for permanent residence in May 13. The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) invites any candidate with 300 CRS points. Once a candidate receives a Notification of Interest (NOI) from Alberta administration, they can move to the next nomination stage.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Alberta has had to put precautions in place to ensure the safety of everyone. Candidates that receive a (NOI) can only be considered if they’re still working within Alberta province.

Some candidate are unable to submit their documents because of the service disruptions caused by the pandemic. The province offers flexibility for such candidates if they live and work in Alberta.

British Columbia

Out of the 637, 225 candidates were later selected in a technical draw. These were from the international Graduate, and Skilled Worker categories. British Columbia choose candidates who had a minimum score of 80 CRS points.
