Once you satisfy the requirements, you will enter the Express Entry program. Here, candidates are required to have a profile that evaluates some of the fundamental human capital factors that include age, education, language proficiency, years of experience in your respective field, among others. How a candidate fairs in this is determined by Canada’s standard evaluation system, the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).
Every year, Canada organizes immigration draws severally to invite candidates who obtain high CRS scores to apply for permanent residency.
Provincial Immigration Nominations
Besides the Express Entry draws, Indian foreigners can move to Canada through the provincial nominations. This immigration gateway gives them a chance to live in Canada permanently. If you are targeting a particular territory in Canada, it would be best to partake at the provincial level.
Canadian provinces and territories often nominate people in the bid to meet their labor needs. All provinces organize Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs), except Nunavut and Quebec. The latter has its own immigration policies and programs that cater to French-speaking and bi-lingual individuals.
Candidates under the provincial nomination programs fall either under:
- Base Programs
- Enhanced Programs
Base programs are handled at the provincial level, and applicants will have to file their immigration documents directly to the provincial authorities. On the other token, enhanced programs require candidates first to create an Express Entry profile.
Once they fulfill the provincial nomination requirements, applicants get 600 CRS points, which guarantees them an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residency.
100 Immigration Pathways
Canada also holds other immigration programs, including the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot. These involve nominations by small communities for candidates to get permanent residency.
