History

Historically Canada has flourished on Immigration. Apart from the indigenous communities in Canada, the majority of the population stemmed from either migration or have an immigrant ancestor. Thus, for a very long time, the majority of people in Canada come from a variety of places in the world, giving them the chance to welcome and support others. The aspect of welcoming new people in Canada just changed recently, this is after World War 2, as previously people could not tolerate immigrants.

Politics

Politics forms the primary reason as to why Canada is unique in its immigration policies. First-class immigrants form more than 20% of the population, and together with second class and third class migrants, they reside in the biggest cities of Canada, which are Calgary, Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal. Parties understand that for them to win in these vote-rich regions, they must entice as many immigrants as possible to form a government. In perspective, a larger immigrant population will increase the number of immigrants’ voters, reducing the calls by anti-immigrants political parties.

Policy

Supportive immigrant policies make Canada rank above other Western nations. Over the years, Canada has formed and reformed policies that touch on immigration to support public interests. Economic classes have been set up to identify and take in skilled migrants to work in Canada to grow the economy. Canada invests more than any other country when it comes to government settling schemes, which include employment and integration into the communities.
Positivity drives Canada’s immigration system, which stands above the rest. However, the immigration element will only hold if the public continues to give it support. Canada has to improve on a different aspect to ensure stronger border checks and additional policies to improve its immigration.
