Recently, the province of Saskatchewan invited 769 candidates for Express Entry and Occupation In-Demand to take part in a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence. The draw was held on September 25.
This was the first one to be conducted ever since the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program increased the number of qualified high-skilled occupations under Occupation In-Demand and Entry subcategories. The number was raised from 19 to 218.
The invites represented about 100 occupations at the draws, and among them included chemical engineers, psychologists, civil engineers, medical radiation technologists, and information system analysts.
However, for one to qualify or enter the provincial nomination through these subcategories, the candidates are required to have one year of work experience in their respective fields of study. They do not necessarily need to have a Canadian and Saskatchewan work experience to qualify.
The draw held on September 25 was among the biggest that has been held in Saskatchewan since the formation of Expression of Interest, which was derived from Express Entry and Occupation In-Demand subcategories.
A lot of invitations were made with 365 Occupation In-Demand candidates, and 404 invites via the SINP’s Express Entry. The candidates are required to have a federal Express Entry system provide to qualify as an invite.
The candidates were expected to have a suitable profession for them to make it to the provincial nominations, and their profession had to be related to their fields of study. The nomination could be done either via the subcategory or through any other provided criteria. Whichever way, the candidates would get in the draws as long s/he met the qualifications.
