Officials in Ontario have come up with an immigration program that will appeal to individuals who want to be part of the small and rural communities in Ontario. The program which will officially launch in 2020 is called the Ontario Regional Immigration Pilot.
The immigration program will be beneficial to communities in rural Ontario as more opportunities will be created for individuals who want to immigrate to the province. Though officials at the East-central Canadian province are yet to reveal all the details about the program, the information provided suggests that the program will create ground-breaking methodologies to attract talented and skilled immigrants to smaller communities.
The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program announced the new regional immigration pilot on July 15, 2019.
The province of Ontario is currently consulting with the various communities that were chosen for the pilot. Ontario is yet to publicly provide the names of the communities picked for the pilot phase. The province will select particular communities to be part of the pilot program when it is launched.
Communities that were to be considered for the consultation period had to have a population of between 20,000 and 200,000. The communities were also analyzed based on how newcomers settled in the area. Other factors that were evaluated include newcomer settlement infrastructures like language and settlement services and economic features.
Given that the program is happening for the first time, the launching may take place within a specific period. The pilot will help Ontario province study and conclude whether the immigration program will be a temporary project or a permanent plan.
