Canadian cities have become competitive over time in line with tech talent, some of the cities responsible for the states high-tech job growth are; Montreal, Waterloo, Ottawa and Toronto that has outweighed the rest. Furthermore, the tech talent report of 2018 in Canada ranked Quebec City, Halifax, and Hamilton among the first ten tech markets having Waterloo and Ottawa at top five. A report printed by CBRE Canada said that tech is the drive for city building because it has with time intertwined with the traditional components of an areas economy and its future seemingly linked to the idea of becoming a tech hub.
According to the earlier tech talent reports, Toronto is graded first in Canada based on the 13 metrics arranged under the three-pointers; tech talent on employment, high-tech industry, and educational attainment. The study noted investments in Toronto from tech firms such as uber, Samsung and LG among others. Canada’s capital Ottawa, Montreal, Vancouver, and Waterloo owns the stoutest blend of attributes which a technology sector requires to flourish particularly when it comes to tech employment

Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, and Waterloo, Ontario were responsible for 63 percent of the high-tech job growth in Canada between the years 2012 and 2017. More CBRE research reports showed that 82,100 new tech-jobs were created between that particular period in Toronto which presented a growth rate of 51,5 percent. Canada inclusive added 178,800 jobs within the same period. The report further covered the job growth rate of Canada’s mid-sized cities like Hamilton and Ontario with a workforce of 10,000 to 50,000 employees improving the growth rate to 64.8 percent between 2012 and 2017 and small markets like Oshawa city with under 10,000 tech workers recording a 71.4 percent job growth. This made Oshawa the fastest rising tech talent market in the years 2012 to 2017.
