More Express Entry Draws

Since more Express Entry draws are expected to happen this December, IRCC will likely need a guide to wade these activities. Seeing as Canada’s pattern of having draws after two weeks, relevant authorities need to be prepared for the additional workload.

Express Entry draws will be held weekly throughout December, and each one is anticipated to handle many invitations. Since the last Express Entry draws were held in November happened on the 25th, the first draw in December should fall on the 16th.

2020 has been a banner year for IRCC, and its Express Entry draws due to COVID-19 restrictions, but despite that, Canada succeeded in inviting a total of 92,350 immigrant workers. This is the highest number IRCC has ever achieved, and it hopes to surpass 100,000 invites by year’s end.

The Parents and Grandparents Program Draw

The fourth major story is with reference to the parents and grandparents program draw. The IRCC had opened the PGP Interest to sponsor forms between October and November. The PGP draw for 2020 will also happen in December to wrap up the year.

IRCC anticipates receiving applications from all sponsors who were drawn from the lottery at the beginning of 2021.

In 2020, IRCC invited 10,000 sponsors to support parents and grandparents of Canadian immigrants. Immigration, Refugee, and Citizenship Canada hopes to invite 30,000 sponsors in 2021.

Canada To Offer More PR Pathways To TRs

In a recent interview with Bloomberg, Mendicino talked about creating more temporary residents’ pathways to transition into permanent Canadian citizens.

This move is supposed to make up for the many declines in the number of immigrants admitted to Canada throughout the lockdown period.

Canada is always on the lookout for ways to boost its population and economic growth. The beauty of immigrant admissions is that it benefits both parties involved.

Even though it is not clear when this new project will be made official, it is worth keeping on the radar.

Final Word

This year has defiantly been a long one for the IRCC. However, things have turned out surprisingly well. Canada’s immigration department hopes to make the most of this last month before the year is finally wrapped up.
