How Do I Use My POE Letter Once I Arrive In Canada?
The POE letter isn’t a work permit or study permit. However, this letter is required when you arrive in Canada following a successful student, work, or super visa application. Once you arrive at a Canadian port of entry, you must tell the officer at the POE about your approved visa application. The officer will request a printed copy of the letter of introduction. However, you can present an electronic version on your phone or laptop.
Port of entry officers can also accept a visitor visa in your passport if you have one. It’s important to wait until you receive the POE letter before travelling to Canada. Those who arrive in the country for work or study before receiving a POE letter are usually put in the tourist visa category. This tourist visa doesn’t allow you to work or study in Canada. If the POE letter is sent after entry, you must return to your home country and re-enter Canada at the port of entry. Only those with the letter will receive their work or study permit.
What If I Lose, Delete or Damage My POE Letter?
If you lose, delete, or damage your POE letter, you can use the IRCC web form to request the department to resend it. This should be done before you arrive in Canada. According to the IRCC, the letter will be resent through your IRCC account. If you can’t access the link to the original application in your IRCC account, let the department know in the web form. It’s recommended that you print out multiple copies of the letter and save the digital copies on your device. You can also back up the digital copy in your email.
