Eligible applicants may get a work permit in one of these streams:
Young Professionals Stream – IRCC will issue an employer-specific work permit for applicants with a job offer who intend to work for a single employer in Canada.
Working Holiday Stream – IRCC will grant an Open Work Permit for all eligible applicants for up to two years, allowing them to work for many employers in various industries.
International Co-op Internship Stream – IRCC will allow citizens of partner nations enrolled in a post-secondary program in their home country to enter Canada and work or intern for a specific employer. The applicants must arrange the placement prior to applying for the permit.
Eligibility Requirements
Below are the requirements for the IEC program:
- Must have a valid passport for their entire stay
- Be a citizen of one of the 35+ countries with Youth Mobility Agreements with Canada
- Must be within the eligible age range (18-29, 18-30, and 18-35), depending on the nationality
- Be able to acquire health insurance for their entire stay
- Be admissible to Canada
- Must have the equivalent of CAD 2,500
- Must be financially able to support him for the duration of his stay. He must have a round-trip ticket or be able to purchase a departure ticket at the end of his stay in Canada.
- Applicants cannot bring or be accompanied by any dependent
- Must pay the appropriate pay required for the program
