Express Entry Invites Applicants

For you to acquire Nova Scotia’s provincial nomination via the Labor Market Priorities Stream, you need to have an Express Entry Profile.

Express Entry handles applications for permanent residence in Canada using three immigration systems. They include FSWP (Federal Skilled Worker Program), CEC (Canadian Experience Class), and FSTP (Federal Skilled Trades Program).

As an Express Entry Candidate, you’ll be ranked according to your CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) score. Factors that contribute to your CRS score include education, age, work experience, and English/French Language ability.

Since Nova Scotia has sent out invitations, called the Letters of Interest, you have less than 2 months to finish your provincial nomination application if you are an invited candidate. Currently, candidates are awarded 90 days, thanks to the COVID19 crisis. There are no other deadline extensions regardless of your situation.

It would be prudent for the not-yet invited candidates to go through their supporting paperwork to be considered in future invitations. When you miss the sixty-day deadline, your invitation will become invalid. You can also reject the invitation. In this scenario, your profile will go back to the Express Entry Draw for future consideration.

When your Nova Scotia provincial nomination is successful, you’ll receive 600 additional CRS points. This guarantees that you’ll get an ITA (Invitation to Apply) in the coming Express Entry draw.

With your ITA, you can apply for permanent residence in Canada. Most of the applications on the Express Entry pool are processed within 180 days or less. You will need to have copies of a valid passport, birth certificate, Police clearance papers, results of language tests, proof of work experience, upfront medical receipts, your photos, and that of your family members.

If you are an invited candidate, you can move to Canada with your family. However, you, your partner, and dependents need to meet or exceed all the requirements for criminal, medical, and security admissibility. You also need to include your family members on your original profile on Express Entry.
