The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has recently announced that it will not renew its work hours measure. To students, it means they have to maximize their hours and find high-paying part-time jobs to increase their earnings. Thankfully, we have listed five lucrative part-time jobs for Canadian International students. Please go through them as you might be qualified for one or a couple of the jobs.

Since 2022, students have been able to work many hours and study at the same time. Today, they have to find employment that pays higher wages to earn more money. Thankfully, these lucrative jobs we found in the Government of Canada’s Job Bank and Indeed can help students. We provided more details so you can review each job and determine if it suits you.

Below are the part-time jobs international students can apply to in 2024:

1. Post-Secondary Tutor

As a tutor, your main responsibility is to teach other students. You can apply at a school or on websites offering tutoring services. If you intend to work remotely, you might need to submit a video recording outlining your skills and your expertise in certain subjects. It pays well and you have the opportunity to share your expertise with other students and learn at the same time.

Note: Median salary means workers’ average wage for a certain position. In this case, most students working as tutors receive a median salary of $20.00 per hour. This means you can earn up to $480/week if you maximize the 24 hours allotted for each international student in Canada.

Median salary: $20.00

2. Administrative Clerk

If you prefer a job position that doesn’t involve teaching (to at least have a break from being a student), consider working as an administrative clerk which pays a little higher than a tutoring position. In Canada, an administrative clerk performs general office duties, and some of your tasks can include preparing reports, correspondences, statements and other materials. You may also need to answer phone calls or emails, fill out forms and create documents.

Compared to other job positions, working as an administrative clerk isn’t too mentally draining, as they often involve simple administrative tasks only. As a student, this allows you to somehow relax and earn good money at the same time. One of its biggest advantages is that this position is often in high demand, increasing the chances of you landing an administrative position when you start your application today.

Median salary: $22.50
