The express entry report for the first quarter of 2019 has indicated that the number of candidates who got invitation to apply for Canadian permanent residence has increased drastically compared to 2018. According to Canada’s Express entry system, the total number of invitation issued by Invitation to apply(ITA) for 2019 is 21,200 which is an increase of 3,700 from 17,500 for the 2018’s first quarter.
2018 had set a record of 89,800 invitations issued which was the highest number issued for any given year but based on Canada’s three-year immigration plan, 2019 is expected to have the most significant number because it has the most massive ever first draw since the introduction of Express entry system in 2015. Though the government issued most invitations totaling to 86,023 for the first quarter of 2017, this number was surpassed by the 2018’s 80,800 invitations issued which are also expected to be outperformed by 2019.
The three-year immigration level plan indicates a rising annual admission target for the coming years which gives a prediction of 350,000 admissions to be issued in 2021. Increased admission targets for 2019 and 2020 is a clear indication that 2019 might exceed the records ITA had set for 2018. For the selection of permanent immigration candidates from a large pool of eligible candidate under federal high skilled economic immigration programs, the Canadian Government uses Express entry system. The system assesses the candidate profiles on skill-transfer-ability, core human capital and additional factors then they are assigned a comprehensive ranking system (CRS) score which determines the candidate’s ranking in the express entry pool out of 1200 points. Regularly, the government conducts draws where the candidates who get the highest ranks are invited to apply for Canadian permanent resident. For 2019, four out of six express entry draw sizes were set at 3,350 ITAs. This, however, had an exception of first two draws when 3900 ITAs are issued on the same occasion.
