Expectations for the Rest of 2020
The number of immigration shows Canada’s immigration system is normalizing at a slow pace amid the pandemic. June was a better month since most people overcome challenges such as travel delays compared to previous months for the completion of Permanent Resident landing.
PR levels tend to rise over summer; therefore, people should expect the levels to remain constant in the coming summer. On the other hand, disruptions brought about by COVID-19 restrictions will keep figures on the lower side compared to 2019. However, it doesn’t prevent the invitation of immigrants to apply for PR.
After two weeks, Canada issues invitations for permanent residence. Express Entry draws are used to determine qualified candidates. The draws have remained constant throughout the pandemic. Canada alone issued 3,900 of the invitations. The country recently held Express Entry draws; one of them is the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP). Candidates under this category were excluded from Express Entry between March and June. IRCC excluded them since they wanted to prioritize the invitations with a high chance of being in Canada.
With the Express Entry and Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draws going on, it’s a sign of Canada’s commitment to its post-pandemic policies. Emphasizes have been made by IRCC and Canada’s Immigration Minister. It’s, therefore, crucial for the country to welcome large numbers of immigrants after the pandemic to maintain a strong economy.
Final Thoughts
We can all agree with the impacts the coronavirus pandemic has had on our lives. The rate at which candidates are selected for Canada’s Permanent recent has decreased. With travel restrictions still in place, immigrants aren’t allowed into the country. Applications aren’t also being carried out to follow COVID-19 safety measures. A country has to prepare itself for the post-corona era since there are high chances of a rise in applications.
