Thus, all candidates with a CRS score of 439 and above who registered their profiles before the stipulated time received ITAs. The 3,900 ITAs that were sent out bring the year’s total to 89,800. This makes 2018 a record year. The last time such a record was set was in 2017 when 86,023 ITAs were issued.

The 2018 record was characterized by a productive fourth quarter where 7 draws yielded 27,300 ITAs. Canada’s admission target in 2019 is higher than 2018’s by 6,500 which indicates a determination to keep increasing the number of opportunities available to candidates. 2018’s target was 74,900 while 2019’s target is 81,400.

Most students who fall under the Federal High Skilled category get their applications for permanent resident status processed via the Express Entry System. Here are some hypothetical examples of candidates who would’ve landed an Invitation to Apply in the draw held on December 19th.

Basel and Rose

Basel and Rose are bachelor’s degree holders. Basel is 29 and Rose is 33 years old. Neither has ever studied or worked in Canada but both wish to do so. Rose works as librarian while Basel has been working as an analyst for 3 years. The two of them took an IELTS English Language Test and scored 8 in all categories. The CRS score was 440 with Basel as the principal applicant. A score sufficient enough for an ITA.

Maxime

Maxime is 30-year-old events planner who holds a bachelor’s degree. He has been planning events for four years. He also has a Canadian brother despite not having worked or studied there. He took the IELTS test and a score of CLB 9. His CRS score of 439 would be adequate enough for an ITA.

Nadia

Nadia is a 33-year-old bachelor’s degree holder from a Canadian university. She has, however, never worked there. She’s been working for four years as an administrative assistant. Her IELTS score was 7 in reading and writing and 8 in the speaking and listening category. Her CRS score of 440 is sufficient for an ITA.
