Proof of Identity

The applicant must have a document that complements the information on the biographical page of a passport or travel document.

Proof of Work Experience

Each category of work experience stated on the application needs to be validated for an applicant to meet the express entry program requirements. That is why the applicant has to upload a field that complements work experience as declared. In the section, the following are also required:

  • Reference or experience from the employer- This entails an official document published on the company letterhead that entails the company’s contact information, name of the applicant, and title & signature of the immediate supervisor.
  • Positions held- The applicant must be able to prove beyond a reasonable doubt all the positions they held in the referenced company, job status, duties & responsibilities, number of hours worked per day, and dates they worked for the company.
  • Proof of self-employed workers- The applicant in this category should be able to table evidence of self-employment income, business ownership, and documentation from third party(s).

Are there any Other Documents Required?

  • Birth certificates- If an applicant identifies dependents, then the aforementioned party will be required to issue copies of birth certificates.
  • Proof of funds- These are used to determine if the applicants meet the low-income cut-off.
  • Marriage certificate- If the applicant has outlined they are married, then these documents act as proof to identify the spouse. Also, other documents like legal separation agreements and divorce certificates may be required where applicable.
  • Death certificates- These are applicable in offering proof indicating the death of a spouse or common-law partner.
  • Adoption certificate- If the applicant has any adopted dependent, they must be able to prove so with a legal adoption certificate.

Final and Key Take Away

After receiving the invitation to apply to any Express Entry program, early preparation is of the paramount essence. For starters, gathering the supporting documentation early is always a great plus, since the applicants are given only 60 days to have completed the application for permanent residence. More importantly, the applicant must present high-quality documents that are well-labeled and easy to read. If any documents are not in English or French, then the IRCC dictates that the applicant must accompany them with an official translation.
