According to recent estimations in the Nova Scotia province, more than 50,000 residents do not have a family doctor. Such a shortage is quite alarming, and as a result, the region set aside an investment of $39.6 million to cater to the deficit. The aim was to increase wages and the rates of office visits while providing the necessary technology to guarantee improved access to primary care. With this move, more practitioners will be required in the field, and that is why the Nominee Program of Nova Scotia was initiated.
So, How Does the New StreamWork?
All interested applicants are required to have a valid profile in the express system for entry. The program has integrity and fairness to all applicants as one of its core values. As such, everyone is required to make an authentic and genuine application, no matter what. Keep in mind this is a leading source of skilled foreign talent in Canada.
At the moment, the entry system is responsible for managing the pool of candidates for three High Skilled immigration programs in Canada. Usually, they hold regular invitation rounds. The invitations are made to indicate the number of highest-ranked candidates so that they can apply for permanent residence in Canada.
Eligible physicians selected through the NSNP usually get a letter of interest through the Entry ranking score. After that, they have 30 days to make an application for a provincial nomination from the Nova Scotia province.
All applicants that qualify for a provincial nomination receive additional 600 points, which is channeled towards their Express ranking system score. As such, the applicants are guaranteed an invitation to apply for Canadian permanent residence. NSNP has also committed physicians that usually operate outside the Express Entry system.
