Similarities and Differences between the Canadian and the new British System

In Canada, there is point allocation for specific skills, pre-arranged jobs and occupations. A lot of other qualifications such as age, work experience and adaptability profiles are a requirement for workers applying for permanent residence.

Highly skilled foreign workers who have never lived in Canada and submit their profile through an immigration application management system must score at least 67 points. Below are factors considered during such as applications;

  • Language skills- a maximum of 28 points
  • Work experience-maximum 15 points
  • Education- maximum of 25 points
  • Age- maximum of 12 points
  • Arranged employment in Canada- maximum of 10 points
  • Adaptability- maximum of 10 points

Those who wish to qualify in the economic class of Canadian Immigration, having a job offer or a salary range isn’t required. Experienced candidates in Canada get invited to apply for permanent residence through the Express Entry System. There are two immigration pathways; provincial economic and federal, but each uses a different method to allocate points.

For a candidate to get positioned, Express Entry uses a system known as the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). The amount of full-time or equivalent part-time, work experience as well as the level of occupation gets considered. CRS doesn’t consider the actual occupation of a candidate invited for PR by the Express Entry System.

Since Canada isn’t highly populated, and those working have aged, it tries its best to simplify the process of immigration for immigrants to get jobs and increase the workforce.

Final Thoughts

All countries should strive to develop immigration policies, which they believe will benefit them. In the following years and months, reforms on immigration policies in the UK will get prioritized since most countries would want to see the outcome of the new immigration system.
