Programs for immigrants in Manitoba
Manitoba has a variety of immigration schemes targeted at attracting international talent. The MPNP is the province’s method of controlling immigration. The provinces of Canada do not have the authority to grant permanent residence. They can, however, assist with an application by providing provincial nominations.
You must first submit an Expression of Interest to the MPNP to be considered for a nomination from Manitoba. Through the Manitoba Skilled Workers and Manitoba Skilled Workers Overseas programs, you are eligible for an LAA.
Candidates are then given a score out of 1,000 based on their human capital and links to Manitoba.
The Skilled Workers in Manitoba and Skilled Workers Overseas Category streams are designed to assist Manitoba in finding people who meet the province’s labor market needs.
Outside of Manitoba, candidates must demonstrate links to the province, such as close family ties, experience in the province, or an invitation through one of Manitoba’s Strategic Recruitment Initiatives. You do not have to live in Manitoba at the time of your application to be eligible.
Finally, international graduates who complete their studies in Manitoba may be eligible for an invitation under the International Education Stream provided they can demonstrate that they have in-demand skills.
