A decrease in Quebec Immigration level
The CAQ has initiated a campaign that is aimed at reducing immigration targets by 2019 this year. This is from last year’s 50,000 to 40,000. According to provincial officials, the province seeks to improve its integration service before the immigrants’ number increases.

Lots of profiles have been signed in for the Quebec Expression on Interest System which will be functioning the same way as the Express Entry. The best profiles will then be approved to apply for immigration via the Quebec Skilled Worker Program.
According to IRIS (Institut de recherché et d’information socio- économiques), the Quebec immigrant employment rates were on the rise while the immigrant unemployment was decreasing. There was also an increase in retention rate, education, and language ability expectations.
Quebec remains one of the top provinces in Canada with the highest immigrant retention. According to Quebec and Canada government statistics, the immigration unemployment rate fell from 13 percent in 2009 to 7 percent in 2018. The employment rate in Quebec in 2018 was higher than Ontario’s. Quebec’s immigrants have a higher level of education than the Canada-born residents.
