British Columbia has made two crucial changes to immigrant entrepreneurs and invited 284 immigration candidates to apply for provincial nominations for Canadian permanent residence this week.
The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (also known as the BC PNP) gave invitations to immigration candidates in the Skills Immigration as well as Express Entry BC categories.
It is worth noting that the Skills Immigration Category targets workers (skilled as well as semi-skilled employees) whose occupations are in high demand in British Columbia. The two categories require a candidate to use the provincial Skills Immigration Registration System to register. This platform offers eligible candidates with a score, which is based on various factors, including their education, offer of employment, location in the province, wage, and language ability.
In the latest invitation round, the cut-off points were between 85 and 110. The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program issues invitations weekly. For instance, since the year began, the body has sent out 585 invitations to immigration candidates in the two categories.
New Language Requirement for the Entrepreneur Immigration Base Category
It is worth noting that changes were made to the Entrepreneur Immigration Base Category. Those changes were effected from January 29. However, they do not affect any application that is already in process.
The province introduced a minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (abbreviated as CLB) requirement of level 4 or higher for a candidate to qualify for the Entrepreneur Immigration Base Category. British Columbia’s government document noted that this CLB level 4 is quite basic. It is important to note that it ensures that the candidate has the ability to not only communicate basic needs but also follow and understand simple conversations. They should also be able to read simple instructions.
