The Government of Canada has held a further draw on September 4th and issued 3600 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for permanent residency under the express entry system. The minimum points under the CRS or the Comprehensive Ranking System has been set at 463. This figure is a slight increase of 6 points when you compare to the draw held on August 20th.
The Express Entry (EE) is the main entry point for skilled workers in Canada. It helps manage candidates’ profiles under three main programs. These are the federal high skilled under economic class immigration, the skilled workers and Canada experience class.
The eligible applicants are then entered into EE pool and given points depending on their CRS score. Some of the factors under consideration are; age, work experience, education and proficiency in English or French. The ones with high scores are issued with ITAs for permanent residency. These are based on the draw from the EE pool.
The current draw is the number 17th this year and the total invitations to apply issued in 2019 are 59,800. This number under the immigration programs has exceeded the targets set for 2019 and 2020. Currently, IRCC has 5100 more ITAs than the 54,799 that were issued in 2018.
The changes in the set CRS scores in the current year could be due to the difference in time between each draw. This has led to deviations in the number of times the IRC would hold a draw fortnightly.
Ample time between the draws is essential since the pool can have the opportunity to add more candidates with high scores. It can affect the raise of the CRS score. Limited time between the draws will result in a few applicants filling their profiles, and this can lead to the lowering of the rating.
