Affordable Housing for Foreign Workers in New Brunswick
New Brunswick is currently offering lucrative jobs to highly-skilled foreign workers. The province is in short of skilled labor and companies such as J.D. Irving are offering housing facilities to foreign experts who are willing to work in New Brunswick. Affordable housing is one significant way of ensuring that skilled foreigners are close to their areas of work.
The J.D. Irving (JDI) company has partnered with Chipman’s village council to build affordable house in a new-eight acre subdivision that will accommodate the foreign workers and families with ease and cut on the costs of commuting to work. This pilot program will see New Brunswick attract exceptionally talented foreigners who will drive the province towards greater economic heights.
New Brunswick is a beneficiary of the Atlantic Immigration Pilot (AIP); a program that helps to identify highly skilled workers for a long-term engagement. The AIP program is used in provinces such as Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, and Labrador. Workers who have been shortlisted by AIP are fast-tracked for a permanent Canadian residence permit. Since its launch in 2017, AIP has hired more than 1500 skilled foreign workers in New Brunswick alone. These workers are flexible and have filled job positions that couldn’t be occupied by the locals.
