According to a survey conducted on March 20, 2019, two-thirds of Canadian citizens believed that immigrants helped in making the country stronger. The study carried out by American think tank the Pew Research Centre, was conclusive and indicated that among the 18 major countries they undertook the research, Canada topped the list in terms of how they trusted the immigrants.
For years, the Canadian workforce has been on the decline and immigrants have helped to establish the balance in the sector. That is why almost 70 per cent of the country’s population felt the essence of this group of individuals and believed that they helped to stabilize their country.
This information is quite credible taking into an account Pew Research Centre is one of the leading United States Research Company that has many years of experience in conducting such researches.
The study further expounded that the 18 countries that Pew Research Centre conducted this survey, they house the greatest number of immigrants. In fact, over 50 per cent of the world’s total of immigrants resides in these countries.
Statistically, these countries housed almost 127.5 million immigrants. Us was at the top of the list with an immigrant population of a staggering 44.4 million. However, the US has less trust in their immigrant citizen as compared to their Canadian counterparts due to the high menace of terror threats and a surge of drugs in the country.
The study showed that the Canadian foreign-born population was at 7.9 million, which acts as a representation of 3 per cent of the world’s total immigrants.
