Applicants using the following streams won’t be affected:
- Economic Mobility Pathways Project (EMPP)
- Regional Economic Development Through Immigration (REDI)
- Express Entry, including French-speaking skilled workers
- Master’s Graduate
- PhD Graduate
When You Can Expect These Changes
- June 20 – July 2 – Deadline for new EOI submissions through these streams
- June 21 & 22 – Current EOIs expire
- June 27 – 29 – The OINP online system will be offline for the changeover
- July 2 – The new OINP portal launches
After the new portal becomes available, employers must register and submit any job details to initiate the nomination process for potential candidates. Any candidates with an EOI in progress will then need to ask their employer to apply for them.
The OINP stated that all new EOIs after July 2 will be valid for 12 months and eligible for future draws.
What the Future Holds
Hang tight for more details because the OINP will announce updates in the future.
Ontario is also proposing other changes, such as:
- Inspectors can require in-person interviews
- Job search platforms will need to add an option to report fraudulent jobs
- Privacy protection against employer abuse will be enhanced for candidates
