The 12th Express Entry draw of the year 2023 was hosted by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). This particular draw was aimed at Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) applicants and a total of 589 invitations to apply (ITAs) were sent out. Candidates required at least a CRS score of 691 to apply. A PNP-specific draw occurs for Express Entry pool candidates who have also been nominated by a Canadian province. This is the fourth of its kind this year and it follows the March 1st draw which invited 667 hopefuls. All draws since then have encompassed all programs within Express Entry.
Proof of Funds Updated
On May 2, 2023, IRCC declared an adjustment to the money amount that must be accessible to Express Entry applicants before they can successfully settle in Canada. All candidates in the Express Entry pool are required to demonstrate proof they have adequate funds for relocation.
Candidates applying for the Canadian Experience Class and those with a valid job offer in Express Entry who have the authorization to work in Canada do not need to provide financial evidence. This includes applicants for both the Federal Skilled Worker Program and Federal Skilled Trades Program. It is not necessary for them to present any sort of monetary verification.
IRCC adjusts the amount of settlement funds necessary for Express Entry candidates annually, which is based on 50% of the low-income cut-off totals and varies depending on the number of people a candidate is responsible for supporting. Therefore, it is mandatory that those wishing to remain eligible update their profiles accordingly.
Express Entry So Far in 2023
On April 26, IRCC invited 3,500 individuals who achieved a CRS score of 483. Comparatively, on the 12th of the same month, they had extended an invitation to another 3,500 people with a minimum CRS score of 486. In stark contrast to that number, however, is the fact that over March more than 21,000 candidates were issued invites over four consecutive draws — three inviting 7,000 each.
Statistics show that during March 2021, Express Entry saw an impressive number of invitations to apply for Canadian permanent residence — second highest ever after February’s 27,332.
