If you need to submit an extra payment due to the fee increase, the IRCC will provide instructions on how to pay the updated application fee.

Guide on paying the difference on an IRCC application following an application fee adjustment
When applicants apply on paper, they may occasionally need to pay the difference and receive advice on submitting the receipt if they have already paid the previous application fee before the fee adjustment.

Tips for obtaining a receipt

As an applicant, knowing the process of obtaining a receipt can save you time and give you an idea of what to do from the start. Here are the steps to obtain your receipt:

Determine the difference in fees

As an applicant, you should start by figuring out how much the new charge differs from the previous one. This includes paying the difference for any modified fees that apply to family members.

Make the payment

When applying, utilize the IRCC’s online payment tool’s “Make an extra payment or pay other fees” category. The entire charge difference (new fee minus old fee) will be under “Quantity.” Every payment will result in a single receipt. You can make payments repeatedly for several receipts or all at once. Also, register for an IRCC account or log in to an existing one to finish the payment.

Submit the receipt

As an applicant, ensure you adhere to the guidelines for submitting the receipts in the original fee request that the IRCC issued.

If you are planning to apply for relocation to Canada, ensure you know the updated application fees that will be in effect from December 1. If you had paid before the changes, there’s no need to worry as you can pay the fee changes seamlessly.
