The Federal EMPP has two streams:

Job Offer Stream (950 applications): You should have a full-time job offer, at least one year of work experience, and meet both educational and language requirements.

No Job Offer Stream (150 applications): If a job offer is not available, one may qualify through a year of recent full-time experience in a specific job category, a high school diploma (or equivalent), and strong performance on a language test. Note, however, this stream is currently closed.

The regional route is for applicants who must meet the specific criteria of the province or territory to which they are applying. This typically requires a full-time job offer, some work experience, and a fair understanding of English or French. Other programs are equally accommodating, including their document requirements, and may even offer loans to assist in covering the costs.

The best thing about EMPP is that the Canadian government plays a significant role. They waive application fees and biometric fees, and even assist with travel and medical exam costs. Additionally, there is support to help newcomers settle upon arrival.

Why does this matter?

Immigration pilots such as the EMPP are typically designed to last around five years. However, when a pilot works well, it can lead to a more permanent stream of immigration. That is exactly what is happening here.

So, if you or someone you know is an experienced worker who has been displaced and is seeking a new start, Canada’s upcoming immigration stream may be a lifesaver. Stay tuned for more updates in the coming months.
