Canada has recently created an express entry draw aimed at healthcare professionals. During the draw, the Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued invitations to apply. The invitations to apply (ITAs) amounted to 3000, each granting permanent residency.

What is Express Entry?

Express entry is a Canadian immigration system that allows you to apply for permanent residence. It uses three major economic immigration programs. These are the Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Worker, and Federal Skilled Trades program. Potential candidates in these programs are assessed through a comprehensive ranking system. The comprehensive ranking system assigns scores based on human capital factors. A candidate acquires additional points if they have siblings in Canada. You can also apply with your spouse to boost your CRS score. Combining work experience and education from Canada and abroad can boost your points further.

A higher CRS score gives you a better chance of receiving an ITA. An enhanced Provincial Nominee Program stream can give you a provincial nomination. Such programs increase your chances of receiving an ITA by providing an additional 600 points. The points you gather can still be used in future express entry draws. Your points are a boosting factor in addition to the applicable draw selection criteria.

Application Requirements for Permanent Residency in Canada

To qualify, you need a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 463. Your CRS points are tied to your language abilities, work experience, age, and education. The announced draw is the third one, following other two recent selections. These were the Canadian Experience Class and the Provincial Nominee Program. Candidates in both programs and French language professionals received a total of 1933 ITAs.
