If you dream of a lifestyle where work does not consume all your time and energy, Canada might be the place for you. The good news is that Canada has officially been ranked as one of the top 10 countries for a perfect work-life, taking seventh place among the 60 nations reviewed. Even more impressive, this is the first country in the Americas to make it to the top ten list, while all the other top-ranking countries are in Europe. This is according to Remote, a global HR solution provider, which released the rankings in its third annual “Global Life-Work Balance Index 2025” report.
What’s Behind Canada’s Strong Ranking?
Remote’s 2025 Global Life-Work Balance Index considered 10 crucial indicators from the number of hours people worked in a week, and how safe they feel, to their right to statutory annual leave. Canada came in strong, scoring 73.46 out of the possible 100. This indicates that the country is not only a great place to work but also a genuinely good and balanced place to live. For comparison, the United States, Canada’s immediate neighbor, ranked 59th with a score of 31.17 out of 100.
Work-Life Balance, the Canadian Way
In 2024, Canada was named the top country where people are considering moving for work, and Remote’s report sheds some light on why. The country’s strong work-life balance is one of the major factors driving people to make this choice. While Canadian workplaces value integrity, punctuality and dependability, they also have clear boundaries between work commitments and personal life.
