• Education: You will also need a Canadian high school diploma or equivalent. If you don’t have Canadian education (i.e. if you studied outside the country), you’ll need an Education Credential Assessment. This basically means matching your credentials to see if they fit the requirements in Canada. Those with no Canadian education will need to submit an Education Credential Assessment.
  • Licensing: If your job is in a regulated profession, you’ll need to have the necessary license from the provincial regulatory authority before applying. Always to make sure that your license is up to date and follows all guidelines.

About the Program

Every Canadian province and territory, except Quebec and Nunavut, runs its own Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). These programs let provinces select candidates who are a great fit for their local job markets. If these candidates get a provincial nomination, their application for permanent residency with Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) stands a much better chance.

Ontario’s Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) helps the province pick candidates who fit their economic needs without disadvantaging the local population of citizens and permanent residents. Did you know that in 2023, the province of Ontario handed out 16,506 nominations, with 463 going through this specific stream? For 2024, the federal government has upped the nomination quota to 21,500, the highest for any PNP in Canada. Canada aims to welcome 110,000 new foreigners through PNPs this year and the number is expected to keep growing.
