The Alberta Express Entry Stream, an enhanced Provincial Nominee Program pathway, is an Express Entry. It means the AAIP can choose eligible candidates via this pathway, allowing them to stay and settle in the province once it’s approved.
Within the Express Entry Stream is a dedicated pathway for experienced professionals in in-demand sectors. These industries include aviation, health care, construction, and agriculture. This is in addition to the paths run under the Express Entry stream for technology, health care workers, and enforcement.
Increased Nomination Spots for Year 2025
For the year 2025, the provincial nomination allocation has been increased from a cap of 1,728 to about 4,875 nominations. The total allocation from the federal government to the AAIP now comprises approximately 6,603 nominations.
With this increase, the province had partially restored its capacity to about 67%, which totals 9,759 nominations. It was cut last year, and thankfully, the federal government decided to increase the allocation for this year.
Do note that the allocation is only for this year and it’s not going to carry over to 2026. The AAIP needs to utilize the increase during their immigration draws for the remainder of the year.
