Alberta’s immigration program has been active this April, with several draws inviting candidates to apply for provincial nomination. If you’re a healthcare professional looking to immigrate to Alberta, this could be your chance. Over the first two weeks of April, Alberta issued invitations to 81 candidates, with a special focus on healthcare workers through three different streams.
Here’s what you need to know about the latest draws and the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP):
April Draws: What Happened?
In just the first two weeks of April, Alberta held three major draws under the AAIP, specifically targeting healthcare professionals. Here’s a breakdown of the draws and the minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores required to get an invitation:
Date of Draw | Stream | Number of Invitations | Cut-off CRS Score |
---|---|---|---|
April 1, 2025 | Dedicated Health Care Pathway (Express Entry) | 34 | 60 |
April 4, 2025 | Alberta Express Entry – Priority Sectors (Health Care) | 19 | 71 |
April 8, 2025 | Dedicated Health Care Pathway (non-Express Entry) | 28 | 53 |
As you can see, Alberta’s draws focused on different pathways for healthcare professionals, including both Express Entry and non-Express Entry options.
Focus on Healthcare: Three Main Pathways
1. Dedicated Health Care Pathway (Express Entry)
The first draw on April 1, 2025, was part of the Dedicated Health Care Pathway linked to Express Entry. This pathway is aimed at skilled healthcare workers who are eligible for Express Entry. A total of 34 candidates received invitations, and to be considered, you needed a minimum CRS score of 60.
2. Alberta Express Entry – Priority Sectors (Health Care)
The second draw, held on April 4, 2025, was through the Alberta Express Entry – Priority Sectors stream. This is a special pathway for people working in Alberta’s priority sectors, including healthcare. In this draw, 19 healthcare professionals with Express Entry profiles were invited to apply. The CRS score needed for this pathway was a bit higher—71.
3. Dedicated Health Care Pathway (Non-Express Entry)
The third draw, held on April 8, 2025, targeted healthcare professionals who are not in the Express Entry pool. Through the Non-Express Entry Dedicated Health Care Pathway, 28 candidates were invited. To be selected, the minimum score was 53, which is lower than the Express Entry pathway, offering more flexibility for candidates without an Express Entry profile.
