Are you a home care worker looking to move to Canada? Here’s great news for you! Effective March 31st, 2025, a new immigration program will kick in. This program called the Home Care Immigration Pilots, will allow caregivers who are eligible to obtain permanent residence upon their arrival and will replace caregiver immigration pathways that have now expired.
Requirements for Qualification
Home care workers must meet a set of requirements, which include:
Language skills: Must have a CLB (Canadian Language Benchmark) level 4 in English. This ensures effective communication in caregiving roles. Applicants will likely need to submit test results or scores from authorized testing agencies.
Education: Must have the equivalent of a high school diploma.
Work Experience: Must have recent experience in home care. Applicants must provide documentation or relevant evidence of their work experience.
Job offer: Must secure a full-time job offer in-home care. This means that only full-time positions—whether in a private household or a related healthcare organization—will qualify.
Note: Unlike previous programs that required six months of work experience, it is yet to be confirmed whether this requirement will remain the same.
