The latest Expression of Interest draw held in Manitoba on January 2 invited both skilled workers and international student graduates. The details of the draw were released yesterday by the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP). Candidates in the International Education streams, Skilled Workers Overseas and Skilled Workers in Manitoba, were issued with 186 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs).
The following was the distribution of the invitations:
Skilled workers in Manitoba: 122
Skilled Workers Overseas: 42
International Education: 22
Manitoba was holding its 80th EOI draw this year since the program’s inception in April 2014.
Express Entry candidates invited
A total of 24 candidates who had a profile in the Express Entry pool were among the recipients to the 186 LAAs issued in the latest draw, held in Manitoba. The the pool of candidates from Canada’s three major Economic-Class immigration categories, namely the Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, and Canadian Experience Class is managed by the Express Entry system.
Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS is used to give candidates a score based on human factors, including the level of education, work experience, and fluency in French and English. Candidates with the highest CRS score receive an invitation to apply for permanent residence status after they pass the Express entry pool draw.
Express Entry candidates with provincial nomination receive an additional 600 CRS points; thus, they are guaranteed to receive an invitation to apply to be permanent residents in the subsequent federal Express Entry draw. Express Entry candidates looking forward to getting the provincial nomination in Manitoba must be experienced in one of the city’s in-demand occupations. Additionally, both Skilled Worker Overseas and Skilled Worker in Manitoba are required to submit an Expression of Interest to the MPNP separately.
